This is a posting from my very-much-as-dodo-as-me-kawan, xu who discovered this from her very highly genius XU kawan~!
*u discovered something(!) XU KAWAN! OMG you're like a genius or something. Same rank as Edison or Newton~! guling2 atas lantai ketawa*
Here goes:
Accidentally right-clicked a contact's name in Msn leads me to a great realisation, I have found the meaning of the msn icon [i'm] .Okay okay I know I'm slow, but, better slow than
().
I got this link: http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/Home/
I'm sure there will be plenty of people do not bother clicking that link, even with some lame excuses like it is blocked by pop up manager whatever whatever. So, I'm here to explain about it, not because I'm too bored that I have nothing to do, or just want to blog about something, I really want to help out the society.
It is definitely not hard to help out, a simple step of typing a word helps the world. Yeap, I'm going to explain here, with the aids of Shern's explanation.
Below is quoted from MSN site:
"The i’m™ Initiative from Windows Live Messenger™ makes helping your favorite cause as easy as sending an instant message. Every time you start a conversation using i’m, we share a portion of our advertising revenue with some of the world's most effective social cause organizations."
It means, if you are participated, whenever you make a chat using Msn Messenger, a percentage of the profit gained through advertising is shared with the social cause organization. It's just that easy, ideal for lazy fellows like me ^^
Now, you need to have Windows Live Messenger version 8.1 or above. Don't know how to check? Not to worry, it is as easy as clicking help on the menu bar, then select the About messenger. If you do not have it, not to panic, it is free to download, free to use, free to enjoy the connection with all your friends.
Lazy to download? I have expected it, here is the direct link to the msn messenger installer: Download Windows Live Messenger
Just click it and you can get the latest Msn messenger, you can even save your time surfing the website to download it. Actually, I'm not sure whether it is legal to post such direct link here, for the sake of helping the world, I think it is justified. =) For those who have the latest messenger, of course you can skip the downloading step.
Then, you just need to add a text code into your display name. Reference: http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/Join/
Here's a list of the text codes and its causes:
*red+u American Red Cross
*bgca Boys & Girls Clubs of America
*naf National AIDS Fund
*mssoc National Multiple Sclerosis Society
*9mil ninemillion.org
*sierra Sierra Club
*help StopGlobalWarming.org
*komen Susan G. Komen for the Cure
*hsus The Humane Society of the United States
*unicef U.S. Fund for UNICEF
*wwf World Wide Fund
*one ONE Campaign
*mod
*care CARE
Ps: There's still some other causes which are not listed here, apparently msn's site doesn't list out everything. *one is figured by Michelle coincidentally, but unfortunately I don't know what cause it stands for..
I do hope my readers here to appreciate my will to help, it is not easy to search for the causes one by one and look for the "About us" part. To repay me, please do help in this project, it is not hard at all.. Thank you. Let's save the world!
